Bring Financial Wellness to Your Workplace

| Posted in Bank Blogs

The start of a shiny new year is a great time to assess our goals and priorities and of course, to focus on our physical and mental health.

It's also a great time to focus on the health of another aspect of our lives – our financial health.

There's even an annual awarenss month to remind us – Financial Wellness Month. Celebrated every January, Financial Wellness Month was created to highlight the important role our finances play in our lives and the steps we can take to successfully manage money, borrow, and save to achieve our goals.

It's a great time to show your employees you care about their health and well-being by bringing financial wellness to your workplace. Here are some ways you can help your valued employees reduce money stress and achieve financial freedom:

  • Remind employees that January is Financial Wellness Month and share daily financial tips to help them manage money. For example, explain the importance of having emergency savings and tell them how easy it is to set up direct deposit into a savings account.
  • Host a lunch and learn session and invite financial experts to your workplace to discuss various financial topics, such as buying a car or home, saving, or managing credit.
  • Provide a forum for employees to share their own tips for successful money management.
  • Create a financial wellness checkup where employees can self-assess their money management skills and determine their goals.
  • If you have a company retirement plan, remind employees about the benefits of saving and taking advantage of matching contributions you may offer.
  • Host a financial wellness trivia game and award winners cash that can be used toward savings.
  • Create and sponsor a financial wellness book club to encourage employees to discuss financial issues and share their experiences and knowledge – all year long.

Give your employees the benefit of financial empowerment. Start promoting good financial health in your company today.
