Grant Provided by Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago
Local organizations and businesses in Premier Community Bank’s service area are set to receive grant money to help them navigate financial difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of $20,000 will be distributed by the end of May.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLB), of which Premier Community Bank is a member, offered a COVID-19 Relief Program consisting of zero-rate advances and grants to support all of its member institutions and the communities they serve as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Premier Community Bank’s 10 branches had the opportunity to select up to two recipients to receive $1,000 each or one recipient to receive $2,000 to aid them during this time of need.
Some of the organizations benefitting from the grants included the Community Pantry of Pulaski’s Backpack for Kids Program; Blue Top Resort and Campground in Fremont; Clintonville Area Ambulance Service; Marion Day Care, Inc.; Marion Area Ministerial Association’s House of Hope; Simplicity Salon in Waupaca; Bridge Street Salon in Manawa; the Manawa Revitalization Committee; and the Winneconne Area Assistance Center.
Recipient selection was discussed within each branch and final decisions were made based on which organizations in each community would benefit most from this grant. Preference was given to organizations that were not able to benefit from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) or other grants.
“Small businesses and nonprofit organizations are the heart and soul of our communities,” said Premier Community Bank President Tom Pamperin. “We’re proud to be able to distribute this money to the groups that need it most.
